The Utilities Project Coordinator is responsible for managing solar projects through the utility application process in order to move the construction process forward in a satisfactory manner for all parties.  Internal and external relationship management is critical to solve problems and successfully manage multiple projects at any given time. 

What You'll Do

  • Conduct diligence on utility companies that are new to NES business, using available resources in order to begin the utility application process and document/track the project per the established procedure. 
  • Upon receipt of the notification from sales, ensure receipt of all necessary data before submitting the utility application as completely as possible.   
  • Identify and resolve any problems within the process between sales and construction to maximize efficiency and revenue for the customer and NES. Coordinate and facilitate on-going dialogue between internal and external stakeholders to ensure clear and timely communication of project status.  Address any issues pointed out by the utility or program (i.e., IL Lottery) that arise and delegate resolution when necessary.  For many issues, the Project Coordinator is the first notified of issues, so it is imperative that all issues are addressed or communicated to the proper team members.     
  • Develop and manage the relationship with the contact person from various utility companies throughout the course of project development via email and phone communication. 
  • Act as a liaison between sales, construction and utilities to control accountabilities and deliverables    
  • Upload and track utility documents for applications 
  • Submit project applications to utility.  
  • Responsible for communicating via phone with utility to obtain account information and other project related information Document job progress and maintain records and databases. 
  • Provide support to Utility Project Manager and development team as needed. 
  • Keep all stakeholders informed as the project progresses.          
  • Initiate the insurance application process, working with the finance team to procure insurance for the solar project. 
  • Combine final documentation related to the project for customer closing binder and hand off to Sales before the project closing meeting. 
  • Create and maintain a master list of all utilities in our service area and their specific protocol/requirements and their proper contact information.    
  • Administer the NES databases for all utility companies and projects. 
  • Facilitate project specific data management. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned.   

Our Ideal Candidate Has

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience  
  • 1-2 years business office experience, with general knowledge of business processes 
  • Basic business information and research skills 
  • Demonstrated critical thinking, organization and planning, prioritization, and follow up skills 
  • Proficiency in MS Office products and Adobe Pro 
  • Operate online applications in various platforms 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Strong attention to detail 
  • Proficient in customer service and email correspondence
