Novel Energy Solutions installs Community Solar Gardens for businesses ranging from family farms to entities with large rooftops or unused land. A CSG is a centralized solar project connected to the energy grid that provides energy to multiple subscribers. We lease the land for our CSGs from business owners around the state of MN. The Sales Director is responsible for driving revenue for all Novel Energy Solution’s offerings, including community solar land, distributed generation, energy efficiency, and subscription solar sales, to meet/exceed sales, revenue, and profit objectives. The director is responsible for overseeing, training, developing, and mentoring the sales team members, including sales managers, accountable for the team’s performance. Moreover, the director acts as a strategic partner with an eye towards long-term sales strategy. The responsibilities include overseeing the daily sales activities, meeting with major clients, writing sales reports, designing effective sales strategies, and marketing company products and services. To be successful, the right candidate has excellent leadership skills and the ability to drive company success in a rapidly growing company. Ultimately, a top-notch Sales Director should have an in-depth knowledge of the market and competitive products and have excellent customer service, interpersonal, teaching, and communication skills.

What You'll Do

  • Build a world-class sales organization. Recruit, hire and train a salesforce. Manage sales teams and maintaining sales operations. Motivate, energize, develop, and manage sales staff. Oversee several sales associates, the marketing specialist, train new team members, and develop and implement sales processes to increase effectiveness.
  • Work with the marketing department to design print and online promotional materials for the company's products and services.
  • Develop and execute sales strategy to achieve sales goals.
  • Create and manage sales budgets.
  • With the leadership team, set quarterly and annual sales goals and motivating the sales teams to achieve their goals. Create and manage metrics. 
  • Monitor the market and competitor products and activities and providing detailed sales forecasting.
  • Review customer activity, anticipating consumer needs and improving customer satisfaction.
  • Create sales reports and providing feedback to the leadership team at company meetings.
  • Establish and maintain key customer relationships.
  • Maintain an active role in overseeing sales, including relationship building, community engagement, presentations and networking, lead generation, site visits, proposal generation, follow-ups, contract negotiations, and closing
  • Lead interactions with Finance, Project Development, Construction, and Management to help efficiently advance the NES initiatives

Our Ideal Candidate Has

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline, such as business, marketing, and/or finance 
  • 8+ years of proven B2B sales experience 
  • 5+ years proven sales management experience
  • Minimum of four years' experience working in a selling role and with sales technology and CRM software.
  • Exceptional communication and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated experience with creating successful marketing campaigns including print, e-mail, social media, and pay-per-click 
  • Strong knowledge of website and marketing analytic tools 
  • Proficiency with creative applications, including the Adobe Creative Suite
  • Advanced Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and CRM skills
  • In-depth knowledge of selling strategies and methods, as well as employee motivation techniques.
  • Strong working knowledge of the company's products, competitive products, and the market.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • Great strategic planning, organizational, and creative thinking skills.
  • Clean driving record

Bonus Points

  • Minimum of two years' experience in a senior (C-level) leadership role 
  • Master's degree in a business-related field 
  • Solar or renewable energy sales experience
