The Sales Manager is responsible for implementing and managing distributed generation energy conversation, and subscription solar energy sales. As a manager, this position is responsible for overseeing, training, developing, and mentoring members of the sales team and is accountable for the team’s performance. Moreover, the Sales Manager acts as a strategic partner with an eye towards long-term sales strategy.  

What You'll Do

Develop strategy to drive sales and achieve goals set by and with the executive team 

  • Create action plans for each sales team member to reach goals that include development of relationship management, lead generation, sales skills, and sales pipeline development/management 
Hire, develop, manage, and lead the sales team 
  • Motivate, energize, develop, and manage sales staff. Oversee several sales associates, train new team members, and develop and implement sales processes to increase effectiveness. 
  • Ensure metrics are met consistently by each sales team member 
  • Utilize data to inform decision making and drive the team towards expected results 
  • Train and develop direct reports utilizing the company’s values and pillars 
  • Lead weekly sales meetings and one-on-ones with the team  
Execute the sales plan 
  • Maintain an active role in overseeing sales including relationship building, community engagement, presentations and networking, lead generation, site visits, proposal generation, follow-ups, contract negotiations and closing 
  • Create and manage the sales team budget 
  • Own the tracking, accountability and forecasting of your team’s sales pipeline 
  • Maintain a high-level understanding of all operations (permitting, construction, finance) 
  • Lead interactions with Finance, Project Development, Construction, and Management to help efficiently advance the NES initiatives 
  • Ensure that you and your team are on top of all that is solar in applicable markets: programs, legislation, news, competitors, and projects in development. Make decisions for the better of the company based on these understandings 

Our Ideal Candidate Has

  • 5+ years of proven B2B and/or B2C sales experience  
  • 3+ years proven management experience 
  • Experience managing and improving a CRM 
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline, such as business, marketing and/or finance preferred 
  • Advanced Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and CRM skills 
  • Clean driving record

  • Experience in solar or energy industry  
  • Experience using HubSpot 
  • Results oriented, self-motivated and ability to thrive in complex sales environment  
  • Relevant experience managing a portfolio of customers to achieve revenue and share objectives  
  • Proven territory planning and management skills 
  • Demonstrated record of leadership in a fast-paced atmosphere 
  • Experience with at least one professional sales system (program, methodology)
