The Project Finance Manager is responsible for the overall strategy, execution, and profitability of solar project financings, including construction debt, permanent debt, and tax equity. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who is motivated to advance their project finance careers.  Novel Energy Solutions L.L.C. is creating this new role within the company due to increasing growth and complexity of our business.  Project-level finance expertise will be necessary to work collaboratively across the company with project development, in-house construction team, legal, accounting, as well as our external partners. The ideal candidate will build out improved project finance processes as an individual contributor to start, with the potential to manage and lead a team dependent on the success and growth of the company.

What You'll Do

  •  Lead the company’s structuring and execution of project-level debt and tax equity financing transactions.
  • Manage project-level lender and tax equity relationships, including the identification and selection of our project-level lenders.
  • Provide leadership to the project finance closing process, including modeling analysis, preparing RFP packages, managing due diligence questions, reviewing transaction documentation, and supporting negotiation with counter-parties.
  • Maintain and refine the company’s financial model suite through continuous improvement for project finance debt and tax equity investments.
  • Evaluate current and potential project acquisition and financing opportunities through forecasting cash flows, tax impacts, and investor returns.
  • Coordinate with Novel’s in-house project development, EPC, legal, and accounting to improve project closing processes and communications with external partners.

  • At least 5 years of relevant project finance experience working within the U.S. power or infrastructure sectors.
  • Solar or renewable energy experience.
  • Proficiency with project finance debt and tax equity deal execution.
  • A strong working knowledge of the complete lifecycle of solar projects and the interdependent relationships of multi-discipline subject matter experts within the financial model and financing structures.
  • Excellent quantitative and qualitative analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently, multi-task, think critically, prioritize, and meet assigned deadlines in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment.

  • Perform preliminary due diligence and coordinate with finance providers on due diligence and documentation.
  • Coordinate the closing process and project communications with respect to construction debt, permanent debt, and tax equity providers.
  • Partner with the business development team to assist in assessing economic viability of acquisition opportunities and facilitating the structuring of acquisition proposals.

Our Ideal Candidate Has

  • At least 5 years of relevant project finance experience working within the U.S. power or infrastructure sectors.
  • Solar or renewable energy experience.
  • Proficiency with project finance debt and tax equity deal execution.
