Novel Energy Solutions installs powerful solar arrays called Community Solar Gardens. A CSG is a centralized solar project connected to the energy grid that provides energy to multiple subscribers. The Land Surveyor works with the project development and construction teams to prepare, supervise, and certify land surveys in order to develop solar PV projects.

What You'll Do

  • Coordinate field and office operations to ensure field technician is working competently and efficiently.
  • Prepare, supervise, and certify land surveys to meet client regulatory and financier requirements.
  • Prepare surveys, exhibits, ALTA surveys, and Legal Descriptions.
  • Compute and schedule construction staking for solar PV projects.
  • Perform quality control reviews of survey deliverables.
  • Mentor and develop survey-specific skillsets within the organization.
  • Read and interpret legal descriptions and title work.
  • Knowledge of field and office survey operations and a basic understanding of Total Station
  • Work efficiently and effectively under tight deadlines as well as balance multiple projects.
  • Maintain a culture of continuous improvement and problem solving
  • Maintain and demonstrate exceptional communication and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams

Our Ideal Candidate Has

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Land Surveying from an accredited college/university
  • Professional registration in the State of Minnesota (PS - Professional Surveyor and MNLS - Minnesota Land Surveyor)
  • Future registration in CO, IN, IL, MI, OR
  • Strong knowledge of Public Land Survey System (PLSS) terminology and procedures, modern survey methods, and survey devices.
  • Strong knowledge of legal aspects of boundary surveying, including laws, statutes, and ordinances.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D 2021, Trimble Access
  • Ability to works in all weather conditions and stand or walk for long periods.
  • Ability to carry up to 60 pounds of surveying equipment over rough and steep terrain.
  • Proficiency with reading blueprints, plans, specs, contracts, subcontracts, and purchase orders 
  • Must be detail-oriented and efficient in problem-solving.
  • Must have an interest in renewable energy development and design.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record

  • Good problem solving and critical thinking abilities and a proactive work ethic. Must take accountability of own body of work, closing each project by design completion efficiently, while maintaining accuracy and strict attention to detail.
  • Strong ability to apply innovative and creative skills to problem-solving.
